June 2016 Newsletter

Thanks to this stunning run of weather there has been great tennis played at the club in recent weeks. If you haven't been down to the club much this year yet, please make sure you join us very soon.

Badge Update

We are a third of the way through the Autumn badge competition and three of our teams are leading their division ladders! They are Men's HH2 (Captain Ben Johnson - div 2.3), Men's HH3 (Captain Ian Kavanagh - div 2.7) and Ladies HH1 (Captain Jane Cowley - Grade 2). Our other team, Men's HH1 (Captain Graeme Sticka - div 1.2), have also won half their games in a very close division. Great work!

Our Thursday Ladies HH1 team playing a home game - Kitty Dufficy, Caroline Durran, Jacque Weaver, Judi Lewis.

Support the club

Members may not know that you can make a donation to our club and get a tax deduction. This is done by donating to the Australian Sports Foundation and then indicating the donation is to be forwarded to our tennis club. We will direct all donations toward upgrading the courts and playing surface. Its a good time to do it with tax time coming. You can ask Roger Brittain (9817 0566) if you have any questions.

Special Events

Thanks so much to Graeme Sticka for running the successful Special events in the past weeks.

New Members

We warmly welcome Edmond Odishoo and Kate Botting to the club. We hope you have many happy times on the courts.

Membership Drive | Sunday June 5 & Tuesday June 7

Our club is reliant on its membership to share the costs of maintaining the courts and our club needs more members. Please invite a friend to these social sessions. Visitor fees will be waived and we will be offering a pro-rata reduced fee to join for the rest of 2016. (Please also mention the requirement for flat-soled tennis shoes).

Graeme Sticka - World Championships in Turkey

We are delighted to share the news that our Club Captain, Graeme Sticka, has been selected as one of the four players in his age group to represent Australia in the World Championships in Turkey  this October. Graeme's team sounds very able - with the world ranked no 1 and 7 for their age group. Well done Graeme! Hunters Hill is so fortunate to have such a capable Club Captain who gives so freely of his time to the club.

Strategic Plan

Many members will be aware that we are now half way through the Strategic Plan 2014-18. Thanks to hard work from the committee many objectives identified in the plan have been achieved. However, we still need to attract more members and we need your help. If each member invites just one friend to play at the club it will help spread the word. Please support our upcoming membership drive and invite down a friend (or two!) to the club.

Thank you for your support,

Sally Stobo, Club President
